But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artt Scully couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute, one of Kinsaley FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kinsaley FC. After 40 played minutes Kinsaley FC got a freekick which was hit by Kennedy Tracy. 41 minutes into the match, Ovens Utd's Begley Dalton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Caolán McDecland narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jarlath Crowe was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jarlath Crowe in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Caolán McDecland saved Kinsaley FC from getting behind. The supporters of Ovens Utd booed when Kinsaley FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kennedy Tracy didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Begley Dalton in the 55th minute of play forced Kinsaley FC's goalkeeper Caolán McDecland to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Caolán McDecland came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Ovens Utd's Bell McBrand. But to his dismay, Bell McBrand quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Braoin Costello blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Breffni Coyle having to make a save. Jarlath Crowe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caolán McDecland having to interfere. Caolán McDecland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keelin Morrison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 91st minute, Kinsaley FC's Braoin Costello ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Breffni Coyle. Breffni Coyle yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. Ovens Utd's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
