Ovens Utd's Begley Dalton couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 21st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Spaville. In the 24th minute, Jarlath Crowe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ovens Utd fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Jarlath Crowe kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Dermot McDonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Breffni Coyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Beagan Harkin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bell McBrand, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Spaville's zone, Bell McBrand stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Beagan Harkin came out of the goal and Bell McBrand tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 38 minutes into the game, Bell McBrand cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Beagan Harkin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Breffni Coyle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lee McGlynn in the 43rd minute of the match. Spaville's Beagan Harkin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bell McBrand in the 45th minute of play. After the first half Ovens Utd were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 57th match minute, Spaville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bragan Dunne to maneuver through the defense. Spaville's Beagan Harkin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Spaville from getting a goal against them. Bell McBrand fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beagan Harkin having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Edwin McLaughlin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute, Dermot McDonald got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Lee McGlynn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute Lee McGlynn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Breffni Coyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dermot McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breffni Coyle having to interfere. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Spaville's goalkeeper Beagan Harkin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
