The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Keelin John received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Bairee McStephen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Ballinaboy's Keelin John slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bairee McStephen . That made the score 1-0 after 9 minutes of play. In the 12th match minute, Ballinaboy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brennan Lester to maneuver through the defense. Beothach Deans kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Sean McPeter shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Damian Silke showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Drumlave's zone, Keelin John stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bairee McStephen came out of the goal and Keelin John tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Ballinaboy getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Blathmac McJohn hit a great ball. Drumlave's Bairee McStephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keelin John in the 36th minute of play. Keelin John sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Drumlave's goalkeeper Bairee McStephen , but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bardon Ghee struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Damian Silke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Drumlave. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Keelin John made the kick off in the second half. Drumlave's Bairee McStephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keelin John in the 52nd minute of play. If Gearard Barrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geary Todd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bairee McStephen having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Keelin John in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bairee McStephen saved Drumlave from getting behind. Damian Silke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gearard Barrett in the 62nd minute of play. Geary Todd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geary Todd might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bairee McStephen . Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geary Todd ran back to his position shaking his head. If Keelin John had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gearard Barrett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damian Silke having to interfere. Drumlave's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Geary Todd was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0.
