Spectators: 6775 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1775, VIP seats: 0) Harrington Quinnless made the kick off and thus started the match. Geoffrey John struck a weak shot in the 2nd minute. Cahir Doherty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cloghroe. After 4 minutes of play, Cloghroe's Auley Grant made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cahir Doherty was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cloghroe's Geoffrey John got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 7th match minute, Finglas AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derry Doherty to maneuver through the defense. Kealan McAaron, 8 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Geoffrey John took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cahir Doherty. Cahir Doherty dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 13 played minutes Cloghroe got a freekick which was hit by Bairthmead McAlphie. Harrington Quinnless recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Harrington Quinnless came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Finglas AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harrington Quinnless couldn't finish the play. After 19 played minutes, Cloghroe's Sameer Sheridan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cahir Doherty came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cloghroe reached it. In the 21st minute, Geoffrey John left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cloghroe fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Geoffrey John hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. When Cloghroe's Auley Grant in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Finglas AFC's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Finglas AFC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Derry Doherty hit a great ball. In the 30th minute Auley Grant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cahir Doherty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Auley Grant took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cahir Doherty. Cahir Doherty dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Cahir Doherty made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geoffrey John in the 41st minute of play. Auley Grant fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cahir Doherty having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Auley Grant to make the kick off. After 53 minutes of play, Cloghroe's Geoffrey John made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cahir Doherty was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Harrington Quinnless in the 56th minute of play forced Cloghroe's goalkeeper Banon Ghee to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Roordan McSteve got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Geoffrey John had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 65 minutes into the game, Cloghroe's Geoffrey John nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cahir Doherty made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. If Roordan McSteve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cahir Doherty made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Auley Grant in the 78th minute of play. Geoffrey John's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cahir Doherty read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Cloghroe's Geoffrey John got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Finglas AFC's Cahir Doherty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Auley Grant in the 90th minute of play. Geoffrey John sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute Auley Grant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cahir Doherty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cloghroe eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
