The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The Finglas AFC fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Finglas AFC's Roordan McSteve looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Torey Murphy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Danesfort FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Thurl Glen Crowe hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute, Patty Gough got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Torey Murphy got free with Cahir Doherty in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cahir Doherty made an important save on a dangerous shot by Berk MaCollin in the 34th minute. In the 39th minute Roordan McSteve shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Batt Colwell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Danesfort FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Herich Gillmour hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Torey Murphy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Danesfort FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Torey Murphy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cahir Doherty breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 48 minutes into the match, Danesfort FC's goal looked a bit too open when Harrington Quinnless came free, but Batt Colwell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harrington Quinnless was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Harrington Quinnless who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Danesfort FC's Batt Colwell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 54th minute of the match, Harrington Quinnless tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Batt Colwell saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 56th minute, Danesfort FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Roordan McSteve fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Batt Colwell made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roordan McSteve in the 60th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roordan McSteve got free with Batt Colwell in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Batt Colwell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harrington Quinnless in the 69th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Derry Doherty hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Torey Murphy came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Danesfort FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Torey Murphy couldn't finish the play. Roordan McSteve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Danesfort FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 76th minute, when Harrington Quinnless scored to the left of an out of position Batt Colwell, making the score, 1-2. Cahir Doherty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torey Murphy in the 95th minute of the match. The Danesfort FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Finglas AFC to win.
