Pauric John tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Torey Murphy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 15 minutes into the match, Danesfort FC's Patty Gough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pauric John narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Hollymount FC's Pauric John got control of the ball when Torey Murphy tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Torey Murphy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Batt Colwell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Heron Horgan's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. After 28 minutes of play, Hollymount FC's Heron Horgan made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Batt Colwell was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Torey Murphy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thurl Glen Crowe struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Pauric John didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Danesfort FC. A collision led to Hollymount FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Beothach Murphy hit a great ball. 45 minutes into the match, Danesfort FC's goal looked a bit too open when Heron Horgan came free, but Batt Colwell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Patty Gough's late challenge caught a Hollymount FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patty Gough helped the player get up and apologised. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Danesfort FC's Batt Colwell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heron Horgan in the 53rd minute of play. Torey Murphy might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pauric John. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Torey Murphy ran back to his position shaking his head. Batt Colwell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heron Horgan in the 57th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Hollymount FC's Heron Horgan dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Beothach Murphy got free with Batt Colwell in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Hollymount FC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Alex Caffrey hit a great ball. Danesfort FC's Thurl Glen Crowe got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Triain McPaul hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. When Patty Gough came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Danesfort FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patty Gough couldn't finish the play. Hollymount FC's Pauric John played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patty Gough in the 75th minute of play. Heron Horgan took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Batt Colwell. Batt Colwell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Batt Colwell made an important save on a dangerous shot by Beothach Murphy in the 81st minute. When Torey Murphy came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Danesfort FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Torey Murphy couldn't finish the play. Torey Murphy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Torey Murphy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Hollymount FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Danesfort FC side.
