After some careless play in the Finglas AFC defense, Baird Taylor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cahir Doherty. The Finglas AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cahir Doherty should have stopped the shot. 18 minutes into the match, Finglas AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Torna Keegan came free, but Cahir Doherty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Patrick Gough fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Finglas AFC's protests and gave Patrick Gough a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Dunbrin booed when Finglas AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Gough didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Scott Quinnless had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cahir Doherty. Finglas AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Scott Quinnless was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Dunbrin's Nollaig Taylor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harrington Quinnless in the 31st minute of play. The long shot by Derin Mullan in the 34th minute really tested Nollaig Taylor's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Finglas AFC's Cahir Doherty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baird Taylor in the 35th minute of play. Cahir Doherty showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brion McJohnny, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After a rather tough play, Dunbrin's Scott Quinnless got a free kick in the 38th minute. Cahir Doherty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Scott Quinnless in the 41st minute of the match. After 43 minutes, Baird Taylor made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. Finglas AFC's Cahir Doherty tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Cahir Doherty stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baird Taylor's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Roordan McSteve notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Dunbrin's Nollaig Taylor. Nollaig Taylor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Finglas AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Dunbrin were winning 1-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harrington Quinnless was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Dunbrin's goal looked a bit too open when Roordan McSteve came free, but Nollaig Taylor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Dunbrin's Abban Gough got a free kick in the 57th minute. Darren McDonald charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darren McDonald the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th minute, Darren McDonald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 64 minutes of play, Dunbrin's Baird Taylor made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cahir Doherty was left in no man's land by his defense there! A hard shot 69 in the game by Torna Keegan from a close distance when the talented Cahir Doherty managed to make a qualified save. Finglas AFC's players were relieved. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Baird Taylor took a quick shot and it went in 1-6 without a chance for Cahir Doherty to make any attempt to save it. After 79 minutes, Torna Keegan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dunbrin and the Finglas AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 79th minute, Torna Keegan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Torna Keegans short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Cahir Doherty to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Torna Keegan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cahir Doherty having to interfere. Brion McJohnny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Baird Taylor got in the 93rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Cahir Doherty handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Abban Gough could shoot a difficult shot in the 96th minute, which Cahir Doherty however easily saved by the left post. In the 98th minute, Dunbrin's Torna Keegan dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-8. Dunbrin's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
