Banon Ghee showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bola Jameson, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 33rd minute of the match, Bola Jameson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Banon Ghee saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Dennis Callaghan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Auley Grant's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Auley Grant fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Callaghan having to interfere.

If Conaill McNamara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Cloghroe's Conaill McNamara slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dennis Callaghan. That made the score 0-3 after 58 minutes of play. Dennis Callaghan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conaill McNamara, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Bola Jameson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gortnakilly's supporters rose to their feet, but Bola Jameson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Banon Ghee breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
