The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Kylegrove's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Robin Gallagher fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Seosamh McSteven stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Riddock Murphy's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. Riddock Murphy struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Seosamh McSteven didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kilmartin. Roy McJohnny showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brenda Glen Crowe, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. With an all-out effort, Kilmartin's Seosamh McSteven threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Riddock Murphy, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 29 minutes into the game, Riddock Murphy recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Seosamh McSteven. Riddock Murphy showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Roy McJohnny made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dermot Caffrey in the 32nd minute of play. When Kylegrove's Dermot Caffrey in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kilmartin's goalie prevented a goal. In the 39th minute, Riddock Murphy fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Todd Scully kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Riddock Murphy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Donahue Hughes kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Brenda Glen Crowe made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brenda Glen Crowe in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roy McJohnny saved Kilmartin from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brenda Glen Crowe in the 55th minute of play forced Kilmartin's goalkeeper Roy McJohnny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brenda Glen Crowe struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Roy McJohnny didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kylegrove. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dermot Caffrey got free with Roy McJohnny in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dermot Caffrey might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roy McJohnny. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dermot Caffrey ran back to his position shaking his head. If Brenda Glen Crowe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Riddock Murphy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Seosamh McSteven having to interfere. Robin Gallagher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Seosamh McSteven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75thth minute of the game Riddock Murphy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kylegrove's Seosamh McSteven was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Kylegrove's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Gallagher came free, but Seosamh McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kilmartin's Riddock Murphy got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 91st minute by Dermot Caffrey got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Gil McIan kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brenda Glen Crowe in the 96th minute of play forced Kilmartin's goalkeeper Roy McJohnny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
