The supporters of Ballymaquiff Utd booed when Oldbawn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaac McSteven didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dillon Myler, 15 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a rather tough play, Oldbawn's Breck McTom got a free kick in the 16th minute. Abban McCollion made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lee Sheridan in the 19th minute of play. Ballymaquiff Utd's Shamus McMichel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Breck McTom in the 20 minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Ballymaquiff Utd's zone, Brak Cronin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abban McCollion came out of the goal and Brak Cronin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bowie Caffey hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Conn Kelly got a throw-in 33 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Corey Barrett. 35 minutes into the game, Conn Kelly was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oldbawn's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballymaquiff Utd the free kick. In the 35th minute, Conn Kelly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robert Cassin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hewney Hamilton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 43 played minutes Oldbawn got a freekick which was hit by Corey Barrett.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brak Cronin was the one to do the kick off. Breck McTom made in the 57th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ballymaquiff Utd's Shamus McMichel. A sloppy throw-in by Breck McTom in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Ballymaquiff Utd's Shamus McMichel. After 61 minutes, Dillon Myler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballymaquiff Utd and the Oldbawn players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ballymaquiff Utd's Abban McCollion played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brak Cronin in the 64th minute of play. Abban McCollion made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lee Sheridan in the 65th minute. Colmcille Duggan fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 68th minute. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
