The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gearoid Scully showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Healy Grant in the 3rd minute of the match. Beglan McJamess short, quick shot in the 4thth minute got Gearoid Scully to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Breslin Scully had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 8 played minutes Louth Utd got a freekick which was hit by Riddock Barrett. Breslin Scully recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Healy Grant recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. After 22 played minutes Louth Utd got a freekick which was hit by Flannery Molloy. A hard shot 32 in the game by Beglan McJames from a close distance when the talented Gearoid Scully managed to make a qualified save. Walsheslough FC's players were relieved. Walsheslough FC's Gearoid Scully proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Walsheslough FC from getting a goal against them. 36 minutes into the match, Louth Utd's Healy Grant sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gearoid Scully narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Louth Utd's Bercnan McPaul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breslin Scully in the 37th minute of play. Breslin Scully's late challenge caught a Louth Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Breslin Scully helped the player get up and apologised. 43 minutes into the match, Healy Grant dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gearoid Scully, 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Brendon McNamara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Healy Grant might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gearoid Scully. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Healy Grant ran back to his position shaking his head. Beglan McJames fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gearoid Scully having to interfere. A collision led to Walsheslough FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Donal McAlphie hit a great ball. Gearoid Scully made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beglan McJames in the 78th minute of play. When Louth Utd's Healy Grant in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Walsheslough FC's goalie prevented a goal. Gearoid Scully showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Healy Grant in the 86th minute of the match. Bercnan McPaul acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 88th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Lewy Willson. If Beglan McJames had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Louth Utd defense, Brendon McNamara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bercnan McPaul. The Louth Utd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bercnan McPaul should have stopped the shot. In the 96th minute, Breslin Scully got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brendon McNamara scored 1-2 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bercnan McPaul, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Walsheslough FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Walsheslough FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
