The referee ignored Ardfinnan FC's protests and gave Aban McIan a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ardfinnan FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Bevin O'Neill hit a great ball. The long shot by Bryan Dillon in the 10th minute really tested Paul Dempsey's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Aban McIan hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Declan Ghee recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pierce Martyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Shane Coyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Branagain Palmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Clontarf's Beacan Lavine was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 23rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Clontarf's Shane Coyle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Declan Ghee in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Clontarf's Beacan Lavine got a free kick in the 27th minute. After having played for 32 minutes, Branagain Palmer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clontarf's supporters crossed their fingers, but Branagain Palmer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 34 minutes into the game, Philib O'Brien was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ardfinnan FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clontarf the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ardfinnan FC's Philib O'Brien got a free kick in the 34th minute. Branagain Palmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Paul Dempsey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Dawayne Morrison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bren McTommy, 41 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Bevin O'Neill charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bevin O'Neill the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Branagain Palmer sped through Ardfinnan FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Paul Dempsey. Paul Dempsey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Branagain Palmer in the 61st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ardfinnan FC's Coran Morrison got a free kick in the 61st minute. Pierce Martyn hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. A collision led to Ardfinnan FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Bevin O'Neill hit a great ball. Pierce Martyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shane Coyle having to interfere. After having played for 76 minutes, Declan Ghee managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ardfinnan FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Declan Ghee was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Clontarf's zone, Pierce Martyn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shane Coyle came out of the goal and Pierce Martyn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Braonain McSteve hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Pierce Martyn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shane Coyle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Branagain Palmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Paul Dempsey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dawayne Morrison in the 90th minute of play forced Ardfinnan FC's goalkeeper Paul Dempsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paul Dempsey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Branagain Palmer, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
