After a defensive mix-up in Ardfinnan FC's zone, Tyrone Gollogley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Dempsey came out of the goal and Tyrone Gollogley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tyrone Gollogley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paul Dempsey having to make a save. Pearce Caffrey took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Shiel Taylor. Ballycolla's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Paul Dempsey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Branigan Deery, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. The supporters of Ballycolla booed when Ardfinnan FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aban McIan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pierson McTom, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Tyrone Gollogley took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paul Dempsey. Paul Dempsey dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ballycolla's Shiel Taylor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Declan Ghee in the 38th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Ballycolla's Branigan Deery sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paul Dempsey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Branigan Deery blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paul Dempsey having to make a save. Tyrone Gollogley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Branigan Deery fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Dempsey having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tyrone Gollogley to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Donahue McAaron was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ballycolla's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardfinnan FC the free kick. After 50 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ballycolla! The referee gave Ardfinnan FC a penalty, 52 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Bren McTommy, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ballycolla's Shiel Taylor. 1-1. 55 minutes into the match, Ardfinnan FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tyrone Gollogley came free, but Paul Dempsey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paul Dempsey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tyrone Gollogley, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 63rd match minute, Ardfinnan FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bevin O'Neill to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute, Pierson McTom sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ardfinnan FC's Paul Dempsey didn't even have to move. Aban McIan hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Ardfinnan FC's Paul Dempsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyrone Gollogley in the 66th minute of play. Declan Ghee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shiel Taylor having to interfere. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ardfinnan FC's goalkeeper Paul Dempsey, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 76th match minute, Ballycolla was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donegan Glen Crowe to maneuver through the defense. Donahue McAaron recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tyrone Gollogley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bivadas Frankson hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. After 95 played minutes, Ardfinnan FC's Bren McTommy shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Shiel Taylor came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ardfinnan FC reached it. In the 97th minute, Pierce Martyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Despite being the better team, Ballycolla failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
