Davie Taylor didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bivitas McJohn went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Davie Taylor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarlath McGlenn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jarlath McGlenn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Davie Taylor having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Bairre Todd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bivitas McJohn blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Davie Taylor having to make a save. In the 33rd minute, Bivitas McJohn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Jarlath McGlenn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beale Ryan charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Beale Ryan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Beale Ryan kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. When Jarlath McGlenn came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Gortnagane FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarlath McGlenn couldn't finish the play. Davie Taylor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bivitas McJohn in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Bivitas McJohn ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Davie Taylor was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Davie Taylor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barin Deans, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gortnagane FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bivitas McJohn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Davie Taylor breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 67 minutes, Bivitas McJohn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Jarlath McGlenn managed to get in a good position for a shot. The referee ignored Gortnagane FC's protests and gave Barin Deans a yellow card for diving instead. Davie Taylor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Barin Deans in the 99th minute. When the match was over Gortnagane FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gormasillagh AFC throughout the match.
