The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Kilcusnaun's Aban Duggan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ainnle Duggan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With his leg Ainnle Duggan managed to avoid a goal in the 6thth minute, when Kilcusnaun's Aban Duggan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 9th minute Garrett Hunt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nollaig McBrandon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ainnle Duggan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Gollogley in the 12th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Kilcusnaun's zone, Tyrone O'Keefe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nollaig McBrandon came out of the goal and Tyrone O'Keefe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Barram Costello hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Garrett Hunt made a precise shot to the right of Nollaig McBrandon. Kilcusnaun's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Garrett Hunt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Nollaig McBrandon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. John Gollogley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell John Gollogley to make the kick off. John Gollogley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Casey Moran fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kilcusnaun's protests and gave Casey Moran a yellow card for diving instead. When Garrett Hunt came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Kilkea FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garrett Hunt couldn't finish the play. Nollaig McBrandon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tyrone O'Keefe in the 60th minute of play. When Kilcusnaun's Aban Duggan in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kilkea FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 72ndth minute of the game John Gollogley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kilkea FC's Ainnle Duggan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aban Duggan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ainnle Duggan having to interfere. John Gollogley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ainnle Duggan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. John Gollogley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ainnle Duggan having to interfere. Pierce McIan charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pierce McIan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Garrett Hunt struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Nollaig McBrandon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kilkea FC.
