Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bairthmead Crowe started the match with the kick off. Dolan McOliver received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Braddon Gillmour came out and tried to block the shot, but Dolan McOliver slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 3rd minute. The supporters of Tawnylea booed when Athboy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torrian Hamilton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Blaithmeic McFrancise charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Blaithmeic McFrancise the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 15th match minute, Athboy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blaithmeic McFrancise to maneuver through the defense. David Ramsey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Tawnylea's Bairthmead Crowe in 18 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Séamus Crowe guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 23 minutes into the game, Athboy's Caoilte McNamara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Braddon Gillmour made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. If Dolan McOliver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Braddon Gillmour made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berrach John in the 29th minute of play. After 34 minutes, Bryan Cassin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Athboy and the Tawnylea players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 34 played minutes Athboy got a freekick which was hit by Bryan Cassin. If Berrach John had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 40 played minutes Athboy got a freekick which was hit by Bairne McWilliam. Piers Byrne was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 41st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Binne Dillon during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tawnylea's Binne Dillon got a free kick in the 45th minute.
After 51 minutes, Scott Dalton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tawnylea and the Athboy players grew even worse after the yellow card. Scott Dalton kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Bairthmead Crowe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Séamus Crowe having to interfere. A collision led to Tawnylea getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Scott Dalton hit a great ball. If Berrach John had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gil Coyle fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tawnylea's protests and gave Gil Coyle a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Athboy booed when Tawnylea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Coyle didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Athboy's Caoilte McNamara got a free kick in the 68th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Ramsey got free with Séamus Crowe in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 76 minutes into the match, Tawnylea's goal looked a bit too open when Dolan McOliver came free, but Braddon Gillmour reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute, Dolan McOliver left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Athboy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Berrach John received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Braddon Gillmour tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Berrach John fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Braddon Gillmour having to interfere. In the 87th minute, Scott Dalton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Athboy getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Torrian Hamilton hit a great ball. Athboy's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
