After a rather tough play, Killashandra FC's Flannery Mulvihill got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Aaden Ghee received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Derry Willson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Gortnagappul AFC's Lochlainn John in the 8th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Derry Willson was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Killashandra FC through an amazing save. Derry Willson made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Aaden Ghee sent off a good shot on target. In the 18th minute, Bram Hamilton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aaden Ghee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lochlainn John in the 21st minute of play forced Killashandra FC's goalkeeper Derry Willson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the game, Booak McMichel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Killashandra FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gortnagappul AFC the free kick. Sameer Caffey's late challenge caught a Killashandra FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sameer Caffey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 26th match minute, Gortnagappul AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sameer Caffey to maneuver through the defense. Aaden Ghee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derry Willson having to interfere. 34 minutes into the game, Lochlainn John lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Derry Willson. After a defensive mix-up in Gortnagappul AFC's zone, Flannery Mulvihill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donncha Murphy came out of the goal and Flannery Mulvihill tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Booak McMichel made a kick off. When Blaithmeic Todd fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gortnagappul AFC's protests and gave Blaithmeic Todd a yellow card for diving instead. After 51 played minutes Gortnagappul AFC got a freekick which was hit by Blaithmeic Todd. After 53 minutes, Rollan Harkin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gortnagappul AFC and the Killashandra FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Gortnagappul AFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Rollan Harkin hit a great ball. Donncha Murphy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Booak McMichel, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Killashandra FC's Derry Willson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lochlainn John in the 57th minute of play. Derry Willson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lochlainn John in the 58th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flannery Mulvihill got free with Donncha Murphy in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 62nd minute, Breadan Doherty hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Donncha Murphy made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Bernard McWilliam sent off a good shot on target. Booak McMichel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Donncha Murphy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Derry Willson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lochlainn John, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lochlainn John in the 79th minute of play forced Killashandra FC's goalkeeper Derry Willson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Gortnagappul AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Torrey Sheridan came free, but Donncha Murphy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lochlainn John might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Derry Willson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lochlainn John ran back to his position shaking his head. Aaden Ghee received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Derry Willson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Derry Willson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lochlainn John in the 93rd minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Killashandra FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gortnagappul AFC.
