Spectators: 6771 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1771, VIP seats: 0) Mace FC's Brefni Prunty started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Brayden McJohnny shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou McBrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Owenbeg booed when Mace FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brefni Prunty didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brosnan McJohn charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brosnan McJohn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 10 played minutes Owenbeg got a freekick which was hit by Brosnan McJohn. Brann Mullan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daron Crowe having to interfere. Lou McBrand didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brayden McJohnny went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Owenbeg's Boylan Murphy got a free kick in the 26th minute. Breenan McJohnny recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 37 minutes, Breenan McJohnny managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Owenbeg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Breenan McJohnny was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Braden Gough during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Braden Gough kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Gill Beckett took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 40th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lou McBrand. Mace FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Salmon McDecland hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Gill Beckett was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 43rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Lou McBrand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brayden McJohnny in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Owenbeg were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brayden McJohnny to make the kick off. Lou McBrand made an important save on a dangerous shot by Breenan McJohnny in the 55th minute. Lou McBrand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bragain McJames, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brayden McJohnny in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lou McBrand saved Mace FC from getting behind. Bragain McJames charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bragain McJames the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Breenan McJohnny blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lou McBrand having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Mace FC's zone, Brayden McJohnny stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lou McBrand came out of the goal and Brayden McJohnny tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 77 minutes of play Owenbeg's Bragain McJames was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Owenbeg getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Bragain McJames hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Breenan McJohnny got free with Lou McBrand in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Mace FC's zone, Boylan Murphy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lou McBrand came out of the goal and Boylan Murphy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Breenan McJohnny had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Brann Mullan fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mace FC's protests and gave Brann Mullan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 92nd minute of the match, Breenan McJohnny got a very nice opportunity to score, but Lou McBrand was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Daron Crowe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brann Mullan in the 94th minute of play.
