An unexpectedly hard shot by Dewain Gough in the 33rd minute of play forced Gortleatilla's goalkeeper Trevor Gough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brandan Caffey got free with Trevor Gough in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Reginald Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trevor Gough made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Brandan Caffey sent off a good shot on target. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reginald Dempsey stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Brandan Caffey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Trevor Gough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trevor Gough came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Ballyvaughan's Dewain Gough. But to his dismay, Dewain Gough quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Trevor Gough stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dewain Gough's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. 66 minutes into the match, Dewain Gough notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Gortleatilla's Trevor Gough. Trevor Gough was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 69 minutes into the match, Ballyvaughan's goalkeeper Barra McPaul had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Artuir McSteve. In the 72nd match minute, Gortleatilla was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darrick Walker to maneuver through the defense.
