After 9 played minutes, Gortleatilla's Jack Silke shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Binne Gillmour came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gortleatilla reached it. When Andrew Molloy fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caherlevoy's protests and gave Andrew Molloy a yellow card for diving instead. Andrew Molloy hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Binne Gillmour showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reginald Dempsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Binne Gillmour took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artuir McSteve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute Artuir McSteve shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Binne Gillmour saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Gortleatilla getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Gearóid McMichel hit a great ball. Gortleatilla's Rylie Matthews suffered a concussion after 22 minutes and had to leave the field. 22 minutes into the game, Fiachra Grant was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caherlevoy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gortleatilla the free kick. The supporters of Gortleatilla booed when Caherlevoy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fiachra Grant didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Caherlevoy's goalkeeper Binne Gillmour, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Trevor Gough took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gordan Scully, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Artuir McSteve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gortleatilla's Artuir McSteve got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Reginald Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 44 played minutes Gortleatilla got a freekick which was hit by Bowen Costello. In the 45th match minute, Caherlevoy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pat McFrank to maneuver through the defense. If Gordan Scully had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Artuir McSteve was the one to do the kick off. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Artuir McSteve sped through Caherlevoy's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Binne Gillmour. With 54 minutes on the clock, Randal Coyle commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Gortleatilla:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Caherlevoy:s goal. Bowen Costello hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Gordan Scully recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Trevor Gough took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pat McFrank, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Pat McFrank's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Trevor Gough was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Trevor Gough made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pat McFrank in the 71st minute of play. 72 minutes into the game, Reginald Dempsey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pat McFrank blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trevor Gough having to make a save. When Caherlevoy's Gordan Scully in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gortleatilla's goalie prevented a goal. If Gordan Scully had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
