The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Dewain Gough dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Richard McLiam, 1-0. Bell Colwell lost his temper 8 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 8th match minute, Hospital AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bell Colwell to maneuver through the defense. Richard McLiam made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brandan Caffey in the 14th minute. Bar Sheridan hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. The supporters of Hospital AFC booed when Ballyvaughan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Payton Morrison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hospital AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Brandan Caffey scored to the left of an out of position Richard McLiam, making the score, 3-0. Colm Mullan's late challenge caught a Ballyvaughan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Colm Mullan helped the player get up and apologised. Colm Mullan hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. If Artur Martyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Hospital AFC's Bradigan McJohn got a free kick in the 34th minute. Bairne Hughes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Richard McLiam made a huge save. In the 41st minute, Colm Mullan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Richard McLiam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Martyn in the 42nd minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Patty Colwell to make the kick off. 59 minutes into the game, Justin Scully cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Richard McLiam was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Hospital AFC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Colm Mullan hit a great ball. Bairne Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard McLiam having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Ballyvaughan's Dewain Gough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Richard McLiam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Artt McAaron kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Richard McLiam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dewain Gough, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brandan Caffey in the 82nd minute of play forced Hospital AFC's goalkeeper Richard McLiam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Richard McLiam came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Ballyvaughan's Brandan Caffey. But to his dismay, Brandan Caffey quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. 94 minutes into the match, Justin Scully notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Hospital AFC's Richard McLiam. Richard McLiam was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ballyvaughan walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
