Boynton McPeter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Tipraite Mulvihill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Boynton McPeter came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Ballyshane fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boynton McPeter couldn't finish the play. Tipraite Mulvihill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boynton McPeter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boynton McPeter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tipraite Mulvihill having to interfere. Becan Murphy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryan Willson in the 23rd minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Cahermacun AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Liam Palmer came free, but Tipraite Mulvihill reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tipraite Mulvihill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boynton McPeter in the 28th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Cahermacun AFC's zone, Boynton McPeter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tipraite Mulvihill came out of the goal and Boynton McPeter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Liam Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tipraite Mulvihill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liam Palmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 37 minutes, Liam Palmer made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Cahermacun AFC's Tipraite Mulvihill tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Boynton McPeter put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Tipraite Mulvihill. Tipraite Mulvihill showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boynton McPeter in the 48th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Boynton McPeter made the kick off in the second half. If Tadhg Kelly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Liam Palmer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tipraite Mulvihill having to interfere. Bradain McBjarton kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. After 67 played minutes, Ballyshane's Daron Frankson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tipraite Mulvihill came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ballyshane reached it. After 68 played minutes Cahermacun AFC got a freekick which was hit by Breenan Cassin. 70 minutes into the match, Ballyshane's Boynton McPeter sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tipraite Mulvihill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 77th minute Boynton McPeter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tipraite Mulvihill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 78 minutes, Liam Palmer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballyshane's supporters crossed their fingers, but Liam Palmer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Boynton McPeter in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tipraite Mulvihill prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Boynton McPeter's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tipraite Mulvihill read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Boynton McPeter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tipraite Mulvihill was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Ballyshane played a much better game than Cahermacun AFC and deserved their victory. The Cahermacun AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
