Bressail Robinson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kieran McFrancise in the 8th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes, Moyard FC's Bivadas McGlynn shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Begley Brennan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Moyard FC reached it. With his leg Begley Brennan managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Moyard FC's Henry McWillie fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henry McWillie in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Begley Brennan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 21 minutes, Harrigan Todd mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gortgar and the Moyard FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Harrigan Todd hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Henry McWillie might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Begley Brennan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Henry McWillie ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 44 minutes, Louis Perth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moyard FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Louis Perth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Moyard FC's Bhrighde Bayes got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Henry McWillie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Begley Brennan was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Henry McWillie made the kick off in the second half. Bhrighde Bayes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Begley Brennan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bhrighde Bayes, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. The supporters of Gortgar booed when Moyard FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brenainn Rutherford didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Bhrighde Bayes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Moyard FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bhrighde Bayes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Begley Brennan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 69 minutes, Henry McWillie made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Gortgar's Begley Brennan tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 75 minutes into the match, Moyard FC's Louis Perth sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Begley Brennan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Bhrighde Bayes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Moyard FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
