The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Torey McVictor struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Rory McDonald didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Courtown. Boyle's Rory McDonald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Torey McVictor in the 43rd minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Hickey Tierney made the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Beehan McBjarton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sean McFrancise hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After 69 played minutes, Courtown's Pierson Murphy shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rory McDonald came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Courtown reached it. Binean McPhil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rory McDonald having to interfere. Boyle's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Binean McPhil 78 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. A collision led to Courtown getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Beatty Willson hit a great ball. Torey McVictor might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rory McDonald. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Torey McVictor ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Boyle players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
