Flann McNamee hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. When Rourke McGlynn came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Cavan Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rourke McGlynn couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Cavan Utd getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Conor Mullan hit a great ball. Tierney McDecland's late challenge caught a Courtown's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tierney McDecland helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 minutes of play, Cavan Utd's Rourke McGlynn made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Beehan McBjarton was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 21 minutes, Conor Mullan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cavan Utd and the Courtown players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 23rd minute Rourke McGlynn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beehan McBjarton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 played minutes Courtown got a freekick which was hit by Flann McNamee. After 39 minutes of play, Cavan Utd's Rourke McGlynn made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Beehan McBjarton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Biddy Robinson scored 3-1 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brazil Hunt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The wind increased when Binean McPhil made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rourke McGlynn in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Beehan McBjarton saved Courtown from getting behind. Brazil Hunt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danann Doherty in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Beatty Willson made a precise shot to the right of Brazil Hunt. Cavan Utd's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Rourke McGlynn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beehan McBjarton having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Biddy Robinson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rourke McGlynn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Beehan McBjarton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flann McNamee kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Danann Doherty could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Brazil Hunt made a huge save. Brazil Hunt made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Danann Doherty sent off a good shot on target. Beatty Willson was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 73rd minute. Courtown's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Binean McPhil in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brazil Hunt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Rourke McGlynn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cavan Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Rourke McGlynn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Beehan McBjarton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Courtown getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Flann McNamee hit a great ball. The Cavan Utd fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when Cavan Utd's Rourke McGlynn looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Brazil Hunt made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Torey McVictor sent off a good shot on target. Courtown's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Cavan Utd had won, even though Courtown had held more of the ball.
