In the 20th minute, Carrick AFC's Baolach Gough ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Brazil Hunt. Brazil Hunt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. During the 25th minute of the match Conor Mullan completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Conor Mullan a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Conor Mullan hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Brazil Hunt made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Brenn Taylor sent off a good shot on target. Rourke McGlynn struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Fachtna Delaney didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cavan Utd. Fachtna Delaney showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brandan McPaul in the 38th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the game, Auley McSteve recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Brazil Hunt. Auley McSteve showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Brandan McPaul made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Cavan Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Auley McSteve came free, but Brazil Hunt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brazil Hunt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brenn Taylor went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. Cavan Utd's Brazil Hunt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baodan Hutton in the 76th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Rourke McGlynn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kennedy Callaghan's late challenge caught a Carrick AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kennedy Callaghan helped the player get up and apologised. After 90 played minutes Cavan Utd got a freekick which was hit by Kennedy Callaghan. Carrick AFC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
