After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Rowan Walker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rathkip's supporters rose to their feet, but Rowan Walker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Shey Mullan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 39 minutes into the match, Derrybeg's goal looked a bit too open when Rowan Walker came free, but Shey Mullan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rowan Walker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shey Mullan having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The crowd rose to their feet as Rowan Walker kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Shey Mullan. That made the score 1-2 in the 53 minute of play. Rathkip's Conaill Coyle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Braddon Cronin in the 56th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rowan Walker in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Shey Mullan saved Derrybeg from getting behind. Shey Mullan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rowan Walker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daithi Murphy got free with Shey Mullan in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 68th minute, Branigan Caffrey ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Shey Mullan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Derrybeg's goalkeeper Shey Mullan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 76 minutes into the match, Daithi Murphy had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Shey Mullan. Derrybeg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daithi Murphy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Rowan Walker managed to get in a good position for a shot.
