Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Harold McIan came free with the goalkeeper in the 10th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alan Caffey could save by the left post. A collision led to Portlaw AFC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Brion McPhil hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Castlegar's zone, Blamhac Quinnless stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alan Caffey came out of the goal and Blamhac Quinnless tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Blamhac Quinnless had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 26 minutes, Blamhac Quinnless managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portlaw AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Blamhac Quinnless was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Blamhac Quinnless recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brendon McBjarton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bevan McDonald in the 36th minute of play. Brion McPhil kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 45thth minute of the game Blamhac Quinnless who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Castlegar's Alan Caffey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Harold McIan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alan Caffey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Darrin Colwell to strike the kick off in the second half. Harold McIan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 50th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Caffey having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blamhac Quinnless in the 52nd minute of play forced Castlegar's goalkeeper Alan Caffey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 54 minutes into the game, Bevan McDonald cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Brendon McBjarton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Portlaw AFC's Brion McPhil got a free kick in the 57th minute. Raonall O'Neill shot a long shot in the 57th minute and a light blocked Brendon McBjarton hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 1-2. Alan Caffey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blamhac Quinnless, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 63 minutes, Harold McIan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Healy Harkin's late challenge caught a Portlaw AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brendon McBjarton was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Raonall O'Neill. Harold McIan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alan Caffey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Bevan McDonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Brendon McBjarton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 86 minutes into the match, Castlegar's goal looked a bit too open when Blamhac Quinnless came free, but Alan Caffey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Harold McIan might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alan Caffey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Harold McIan ran back to his position shaking his head. If Harold McIan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
