Geashill Park
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Eoin Kirby started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 5thth minute of the game Eoin Kirby who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Geashill FC's Brannen Walker was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 7 minutes into the match, Geashill FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eoin Kirby came free, but Brannen Walker reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Lough AFC's Eoin Kirby in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Geashill FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 13th minute Eoin Kirby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brannen Walker saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bryan Lester received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Brannen Walker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bradagain Martyn charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bradagain Martyn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After having played for 16 minutes, Eoin Kirby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lough AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eoin Kirby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Scott McGlynn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Devlin Barrett in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Lough AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Colm Robinson was slow to take the kick. During this time Geashill FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Rorey McIan almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Lough AFC's Scott McGlynn did a great save. 34 minutes into the match, Geashill FC's goal looked a bit too open when Phelim Caffey came free, but Brannen Walker reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brannen Walker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eoin Kirby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Lough AFC fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Lough AFC's Eoin Kirby looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Devlin Barrett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scott McGlynn having to interfere. With a little luck, Lough AFC's Scott McGlynn got control of the ball when Bow McSteven tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Devlin Barrett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eoin Kirby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brannen Walker having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Geashill FC's zone, Eoin Kirby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brannen Walker came out of the goal and Eoin Kirby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brannen Walker was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Phelim Caffey capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Phelim Caffey really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Thanks to some nice moves Eoin Kirby could shoot a difficult shot in the 65th minute, which Brannen Walker however easily saved by the left post. Eoin Kirby recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Tady Beckett fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lough AFC's protests and gave Tady Beckett a yellow card for diving instead. Tady Beckett hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. If Eoin Kirby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Eoin Kirby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brannen Walker having to interfere. Lough AFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
