But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doney McLaughlin couldn't finish the play. In the 16th minute, Derry Beckett left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pollrone fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Bunnow AFC's Reginald Tierney played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doney McLaughlin in the 20th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bard Ferguson during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Bunnow AFC's Bard Ferguson got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 28th minute, Doney McLaughlin made a precise shot to the right of Reginald Tierney. Bunnow AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. When Doney McLaughlin came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Pollrone fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doney McLaughlin couldn't finish the play. Birr McBrandon was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 38 minutes into the match. A collision led to Pollrone getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Birr McBrandon hit a great ball. The supporters of Pollrone booed when Bunnow AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mack Johnson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doney McLaughlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginald Tierney having to interfere. The Bunnow AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pollrone were winning 0-2.

Bearach McDonald made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bardain McCready in the 62nd minute of play. Tipraite Lavine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match, Beamard McBrandon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bearach McDonald. Pollrone's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Beamard McBrandon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Reginald Tierney made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doney McLaughlin in the 85th minute. Doney McLaughlin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Reginald Tierney made a huge save. When the final whistle sounded Pollrone left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Bunnow AFC.
