Pierce O'Down showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Palmer, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 24th minute there was a penalty for Annesbrook. Teigue Barrett stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Pierce O'Down. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Annesbrook's Artur McLiam got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 28th minute of the match Reilly Kelly shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bean Rutherford showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Robert Palmer struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Pierce O'Down didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Annesbrook. Gearóid MaCollin kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. 38 minutes into the game, Annesbrook's Dónal Kelly nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pierce O'Down made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After a rather tough play, Cloghglass FC's Gearóid MaCollin got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Cloghglass FC's zone, Dónal Kelly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pierce O'Down came out of the goal and Dónal Kelly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 50th minute, Dónal Kelly ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pierce O'Down was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fiachra McWilliam made a kick off. Cloghglass FC's Pierce O'Down played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dónal Kelly in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Troy Todd was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cloghglass FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Annesbrook the free kick. The supporters of Annesbrook booed when Cloghglass FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Troy Todd didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robert Palmer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Pierce O'Down made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Annesbrook's Dónal Kelly got a free kick in the 60th minute. The free kick made by Annesbrook's Dónal Kelly led to a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Bean Rutherford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fiachra McWilliam, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After having played for 82 minutes, Robert Palmer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Annesbrook's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Palmer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ferdia O'Brien hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Dónal Kelly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierce O'Down having to interfere. If Robert Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Annesbrook getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Artur McLiam hit a great ball.
