An unexpectedly hard shot by Barra McWill in the 6th minute of play forced Saltmills's goalkeeper Taveon McWillie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Cleary O'Down fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Saltmills's protests and gave Cleary O'Down a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Saltmills was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cleary O'Down to maneuver through the defense. Branson McJohnny charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Branson McJohnny the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Fathain getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Branson McJohnny hit a great ball. Dane Ramsey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Philib Ghee tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Fathain booed when Saltmills was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donoghue Deery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Barra McWill was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 24th minute. Fathain's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Barra McWill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Taveon McWillie having to interfere. Saltmills's Dane O'Neill got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Saltmills's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Barra McWill scored to the left of an out of position Taveon McWillie, making the score, 1-0. After 35 minutes, Patton Cooney mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fathain and the Saltmills players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fathain's Patton Cooney got a free kick in the 35th minute. With an all-out effort, Fathain's Taveon McWillie threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cullan Hughes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 46th minute, Reamann McWilliam made a precise shot to the right of Taveon McWillie. Saltmills's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dane Ramsey to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Fathain's Cullan Hughes got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Saltmills's Dane O'Neill got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Taveon McWillie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reamann McWilliam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st minute Barra McWill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Taveon McWillie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Taveon McWillie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barra McWill in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 64th match minute, Saltmills was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nolyn Moran to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Dane O'Neill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saltmills's supporters rose to their feet, but Dane O'Neill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Philib Ghee breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Saltmills's Taveon McWillie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reamann McWilliam in the 77th minute of play. Barra McWill recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Saltmills defense, Reamann McWilliam kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Taveon McWillie. The Saltmills fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Taveon McWillie should have stopped the shot. Taveon McWillie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barra McWill in the 88th minute of play. Fathain's Philib Ghee proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Fathain from getting a goal against them. Barra McWill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Taveon McWillie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
