After a rather tough play, Tallanstown's Lou Todd got a free kick in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rollan Myler in the 15th minute of play forced Licketstown's goalkeeper Bel McAaron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Tallanstown's goal looked a bit too open when Rowley Hutton came free, but Brenan Dunne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 20 minutes of play, Tallanstown's Comhghall Bayes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bel McAaron was left in no man's land by his defense there! Louie Crowe's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 24thth minute, Brenan Dunne skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Rowley Hutton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Louie Crowe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Brenan Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Tallanstown:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Licketstown:s goal. Bel McAaron took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rollan Myler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 51st minute, Louie Crowe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Licketstown fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. When Rollan Myler came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Tallanstown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rollan Myler couldn't finish the play. After 57 played minutes Licketstown got a freekick which was hit by Brennen Scully. Rollan Myler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Keelin Dimson kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Tallanstown's Donan Martyn shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 61st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Bel McAaron but with some difficulty. Rowley Hutton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Brenan Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rowley Hutton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The score was 2-4 after a penalty in the 82nd minute, where Tallanstown:s Donan Martyn tricked Licketstown:s Bel McAaron with a difficult ball by the left post. Bairthmead McJohn's late challenge caught a Licketstown's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bairthmead McJohn helped the player get up and apologised. In the 86th minute, Bairthmead McJohn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brenan Dunne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rowley Hutton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Louie Crowe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brenan Dunne having to interfere. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Tallanstown's goalkeeper Brenan Dunne, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Keelin Dimson hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Tallanstown supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tallanstown would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
