Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Heron Deans started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. If Davie Tierney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Essexford FC's Donahue McOliver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doney Hunt in the 10th minute of play. Douglas Coyle struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Donahue McOliver didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burtonport. Essexford FC's Donahue McOliver proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Essexford FC from getting a goal against them. Daithi Murphy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heron Deans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Douglas Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donahue McOliver was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Torna McLiam capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Torna McLiam really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 42nd minute Heron Deans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daithi Murphy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Burtonport's Daithi Murphy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phillip McLaughlin in the 44th minute of play. Tady Hunt hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After 48 minutes Burtonport's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Breanainn McLiam who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Glenn McPeter got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Daithi Murphy quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
The wind increased when Doney Hunt made the kick off in the second half. Donahue McOliver showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doney Hunt in the 53rd minute of the match. Douglas Coyle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donahue McOliver having to interfere. After some careless play in the Essexford FC defense, Doney Hunt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donahue McOliver. The Essexford FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donahue McOliver should have stopped the shot. Donahue McOliver made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Coyle in the 71st minute of play. Donahue McOliver came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Burtonport's Doney Hunt. But to his dismay, Doney Hunt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Tady Hunt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donahue McOliver having to make a save. 83 minutes into the match, Essexford FC's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas Coyle came free, but Donahue McOliver reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doney Hunt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute Doney Hunt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donahue McOliver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th minute Douglas Coyle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donahue McOliver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Essexford FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 91st minute. Penalty!
