The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Garrett McWillie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donahue McOliver having to interfere. 4 minutes into the match, Essexford FC's goal looked a bit too open when Barram Johnson came free, but Donahue McOliver reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Garrett McWillie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Donahue McOliver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Garrett McWillie came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Coolamoney AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garrett McWillie couldn't finish the play. Harvey Sheridan hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. If Garrett McWillie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heron Deans's late challenge caught a Coolamoney AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Heron Deans helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Essexford FC's Heron Deans got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Barram Johnson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Donahue McOliver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donahue McOliver showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barram Johnson, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, Coolamoney AFC's Banban McBrandon got a free kick in the 38th minute. Breanainn McLiam, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Garrett McWillie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Coolamoney AFC booed when Essexford FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breanainn McLiam didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Essexford FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Coolamoney AFC were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Barram Johnson to make the kick off. Essexford FC's Donahue McOliver proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Essexford FC from getting a goal against them. Donahue McOliver made an important save on a dangerous shot by Garrett McWillie in the 75th minute. In the 87th minute, Barram Johnson fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A hard shot 90 in the game by Garrett McWillie from a close distance when the talented Donahue McOliver managed to make a qualified save. Essexford FC's players were relieved. Coolamoney AFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
