Doney Hunt started the match with the kick off. Devlin MaCollin scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Daithi Murphy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nolyn Horgan hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Devlin MaCollin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daithi Murphy having to interfere. Burtonport's Daithi Murphy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarlath Johnson in the 15th minute of play. Lackan's Bradain McAlphie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Torna McLiam in the 23rd minute of play. The supporters of Burtonport booed when Lackan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Briain McCollion didn't get a good kick on the ball. Burtonport's Nolyn Horgan shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Bradain McAlphie but with some difficulty. Lackan's Devlin MaCollin got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tady Hunt charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tady Hunt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tady Hunt hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Devlin MaCollin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute Devlin MaCollin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daithi Murphy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Devlin MaCollin was the one to do the kick off. 58 minutes into the match, Burtonport's goal looked a bit too open when Devlin MaCollin came free, but Daithi Murphy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Devlin MaCollin struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Daithi Murphy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lackan. Bradain McAlphie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Coyle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 67 minutes into the match, Lackan's goal looked a bit too open when Tady Hunt came free, but Bradain McAlphie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Lackan getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Derry John hit a great ball. Bradain McAlphie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Coyle in the 71st minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Douglas Coyle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lackan's attentive Buach Cassin managed to snatch the ball when Nolyn Horgan made a throw-in in the 74th minute of the game. Devlin MaCollin had several of the Burtonport's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 75 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Daithi Murphy as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 78th minute, Tipper McStephen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute, Devlin MaCollin made a precise shot to the right of Daithi Murphy. Burtonport's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Bradain McAlphie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doney Hunt in the 90th minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Lackan's Devlin MaCollin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Lackan's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
