Roland McJames showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bergin Cooney, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 35th match minute, Derrooly FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joseph Murphy to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes into the game, Bergin Cooney cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Roland McJames was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Beale Lavine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Braedon Beckett having to interfere. Darrin Benson kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. When Dolan Gallagher came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Knockboha FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dolan Gallagher couldn't finish the play. Bowie Branson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Braedon Beckett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Derrooly FC's Beale Lavine got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. It was beautiful to see Derrooly FC's Blian Grant in action when he in the 87th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! In the 90th minute Beale Lavine shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Braedon Beckett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The long shot by Artuir McStephen in the 93rd minute really tested Roland McJames's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Derrooly FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
