After a rather tough play, Coolbaun AFC's Donahue McCready got a free kick in the 15th minute. When Suibhne Branson came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Ballyfarnan Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Suibhne Branson couldn't finish the play. If Suibhne Branson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Suibhne Branson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Suibhne Branson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, one of Coolbaun AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Coolbaun AFC. The audience thought a goal was coming when Suibhne Branson got free with Berkley Lavine in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 43rd minute Daniel Kelly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barran McSteven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Berkley Lavine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver McJon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bret McNamee made a kick off. Bret McNamee struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Barran McSteven didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Coolbaun AFC. Suibhne Branson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Berkley Lavine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Berkley Lavine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Suibhne Branson in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bret McNamee in the 65th minute of play forced Ballyfarnan Utd's goalkeeper Barran McSteven to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barran McSteven showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bret McNamee in the 68th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bret McNamee in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Barran McSteven prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Breenan Keegan took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Berkley Lavine. Berkley Lavine dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. If Rory Coyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Caoilte Gillmour fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballyfarnan Utd's protests and gave Caoilte Gillmour a yellow card for diving instead. The Coolbaun AFC fans' excitement grew in the 82nd match minute when Coolbaun AFC's Bret McNamee looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Ballyfarnan Utd getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Baird McSteve hit a great ball. The supporters of Coolbaun AFC booed when Ballyfarnan Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breenan Keegan didn't get a good kick on the ball.
