Donan Dillon charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Boudibiua McNamara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 44 minutes of play, Poulanargid FC's Bel Jameson made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Boudibiua McNamara was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gearoid Quinnless sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Branagain Perth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Darren Jameson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Athboy FC's Boudibiua McNamara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gearoid Quinnless in the 57th minute of play. After having played for 63 minutes, Gearoid Quinnless managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Poulanargid FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gearoid Quinnless was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th match minute, Athboy FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Coinneach Delaney to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the game, Gearoid Quinnless recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Boudibiua McNamara. Gearoid Quinnless showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Bel Jamesons short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Boudibiua McNamara to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 77 minutes, Coinneach Delaney mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Athboy FC and the Poulanargid FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 77th match minute, Athboy FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Coinneach Delaney to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Gearoid Quinnless's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Boudibiua McNamara was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. When the final whistle sounded Poulanargid FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Athboy FC.
