Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. After 3 played minutes, Kilnamaddy's Turlough McDecland shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Breenan McTom came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Kilnamaddy reached it. Ballyheigue's Brede Lester got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Breandan Martyn fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kilnamaddy's protests and gave Breandan Martyn a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th minute, Breandan Martyn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Hughes hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. After having played for 16 minutes, Boylan Beckett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kilnamaddy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boylan Beckett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brede Lester in the 19th minute of play forced Kilnamaddy's goalkeeper Desmond Branson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kilnamaddy's Breandan Martyn got his second yellow card of the match in the 22nd minute. The referee ordered Breandan Martyn off the ground. A collision led to Kilnamaddy getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Breandan Martyn hit a great ball. Desmond Branson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bardain Barrett in the 27th minute of the match. Boylan Beckett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Breenan McTom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ballyheigue's Breenan McTom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Ballyheigue from getting a goal against them. Boylan Beckett recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 35th minute, Turlough McDecland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 36 minutes, Brede Lester managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballyheigue's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brede Lester was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bardain Barrett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Desmond Branson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Desmond Branson didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Ballyheigue's Bardain Barrett shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Boylan Beckett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Boylan Beckett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 54 minutes, Bardain Barrett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 66th minute, Todd McGlenn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 68th minute, Boylan Beckett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 71st minute Brede Lester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Desmond Branson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boylan Beckett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breenan McTom having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Kilnamaddy's Boylan Beckett got a free kick in the 83rd minute. 90 minutes into the match, Kilnamaddy's goal looked a bit too open when Brede Lester came free, but Desmond Branson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Boylan Beckett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breenan McTom having to interfere. The Kilnamaddy manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Ballyheigue to win.
