Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Patton Crowe started the match with the kick off. Hayes McLiam took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heremon Dimson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Baolach Frankson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kevis Gillmour came out and tried to block the shot, but Baolach Frankson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Gates's Heremon Dimson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hayes McLiam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Donaghmore getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Raonall McBjarton hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Gates's Randal Dalton got a free kick in the 21st minute. Breslin McPhilip sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gates's Heremon Dimson got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 31 minutes into the match, Donaghmore's goal looked a bit too open when Heremon Dimson came free, but Hayes McLiam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kevis Gillmour made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baolach Frankson in the 34th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Heremon Dimson in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hayes McLiam prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Donaghmore's Breslin McPhilip got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Hayes McLiam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patton Crowe, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Donaghmore's goalkeeper Hayes McLiam, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
In the 53rd minute of the match Donaghmore got a corner. Gates's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Colm Dempsey ran over to the corner to take the kick. Baolach Frankson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Kevis Gillmour tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Keefe Hunt kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Breslin McPhilip notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Gates's Kevis Gillmour. Kevis Gillmour was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Donaghmore's Hayes McLiam got control of the ball when Heremon Dimson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Gates booed when Donaghmore was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bola McJohnny didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kevis Gillmour showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baolach Frankson in the 78th minute of the match. Baolach Frankson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kevis Gillmour having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breslin McPhilip in the 85th minute of play forced Gates's goalkeeper Kevis Gillmour to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Heremon Dimson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hayes McLiam made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heremon Dimson in the 92nd minute. Donaghmore's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
