Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Donaghmore's Baolach Frankson started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Breslin McPhilip had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donan McTom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Hayes McLiam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Blathmac McSteve's late challenge caught a Gattabaun's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blathmac McSteve helped the player get up and apologised. In the 10th match minute, Donaghmore was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blathmac McSteve to maneuver through the defense. Bard Mullan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baolach Frankson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baolach Frankson in the 14th minute of play forced Gattabaun's goalkeeper Bard Mullan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Baolach Frankson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Gattabaun's Bard Mullan. Bard Mullan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Donaghmore's zone, Babe Kelly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hayes McLiam came out of the goal and Babe Kelly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bard Mullan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breslin McPhilip, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Donan McTom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hayes McLiam having to interfere. When Babe Kelly came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Gattabaun fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Babe Kelly couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Gattabaun booed when Donaghmore was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colm Dempsey didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Babe Kelly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Babe Kelly managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gattabaun's supporters rose to their feet, but Babe Kelly was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hayes McLiam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 47th minute Gattabaun were awarded a corner. Artuir Morrison went to the cornerflag to take it. After the first half Donaghmore were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Derrick Gough kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Donan McTom took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hayes McLiam. Hayes McLiam dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Babe Kelly in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hayes McLiam saved Donaghmore from getting behind. After 71 played minutes Donaghmore got a freekick which was hit by Keefe Hunt. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donan McTom in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hayes McLiam saved Donaghmore from getting behind. 76 minutes into the match, Babe Kelly notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Donaghmore's Hayes McLiam. Hayes McLiam was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Donan McTom struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Hayes McLiam didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gattabaun. Hayes McLiam came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Gattabaun's Babe Kelly. But to his dismay, Babe Kelly quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Logan Caffrey hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. The long shot by Colm Dempsey in the 90th minute really tested Bard Mullan's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Gattabaun's Babe Kelly got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Keefe Hunt charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Keefe Hunt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 92 played minutes Donaghmore got a freekick which was hit by Keefe Hunt. Gattabaun's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
