Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Clonagooden's Breccan Palmer started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Springfield's Brine Todd got a free kick in the 3rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Breccan Palmer in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Biddy McAlphie saved Springfield from getting behind. Flannery Ghee showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lou McIan in the 14th minute of the match. When Brine Todd fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Springfield's protests and gave Brine Todd a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Springfield's Brine Todd got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 19th minute Lou McIan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flannery Ghee saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolan McLiam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flannery Ghee having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Lou McIan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Springfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Lou McIan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flannery Ghee breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clonagooden's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rolan McLiam was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Flannery Ghee stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lou McIan's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. After having played for 47 minutes, Lou McIan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Springfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lou McIan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
After a defensive mix-up in Clonagooden's zone, Rolan McLiam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flannery Ghee came out of the goal and Rolan McLiam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bealtaine Coyles short, quick shot in the 58thth minute got Biddy McAlphie to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bealtaine Coyle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Biddy McAlphie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Springfield's Rylee Robinson got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Biddy McAlphie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breccan Palmer, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 68th minute, Finian McJon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brine Todd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
