The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pearson Dillon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 21st minute, Quirk McVictor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute, Rory McGlynn made a precise shot to the right of Pearson Dillon. Cloughjordan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Moyard's zone, Bradley Rutherford stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rourke Ryan came out of the goal and Bradley Rutherford tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 27 in the game by Rory McGlynn from a close distance when the talented Pearson Dillon managed to make a qualified save. Cloughjordan's players were relieved. 28 minutes into the match, Cloughjordan's goal looked a bit too open when Desmond Prunty came free, but Pearson Dillon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Desmond Prunty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Pearson Dillon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Moyard's Desmond Prunty in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cloughjordan's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Cloughjordan getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Bradley Rutherford hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute, Cloughjordan's Bradley Rutherford dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Brian MaCollin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rourke Ryan came out and tried to block the shot, but Brian MaCollin slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 55th minute. Rourke Ryan was a little too slow when Bradley Rutherford got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rory McGlynn in the 70th minute of play forced Cloughjordan's goalkeeper Pearson Dillon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Desmond Prunty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
