The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Binne Lavine showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Ballindine Utd's Rorry McGlynn got a free kick in the 16th minute. Breffni Willson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Binne Lavine came out and tried to block the shot, but Breffni Willson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. 26 minutes into the match, Ballindine Utd's goalkeeper Binne Lavine had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Caolán Martyn. Binne Lavine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breffni Willson in the 28th minute of the match. Blathma McSteve hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Brazil Molloy might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brannon Keegan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brazil Molloy ran back to his position shaking his head. When Cormac McWillie fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Drumbeg AFC's protests and gave Cormac McWillie a yellow card for diving instead. In the 40th match minute, Drumbeg AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cormac McWillie to maneuver through the defense. If Don Grant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute Brazil Molloy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brannon Keegan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Don Grant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brazil Molloy was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Don Grant left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ballindine Utd fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Breffni Willson came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Drumbeg AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Breffni Willson couldn't finish the play. Breffni Willson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caolán Martyn scored 2-1 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Binne Lavine, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Ballindine Utd getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Brazil Molloy hit a great ball. The supporters of Ballindine Utd booed when Drumbeg AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gavin McLiam didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Drumbeg AFC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
