Cuilkillew's Timmons Silke quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gearoid Mullan, made in the 17th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gordan Kelly got free with Jarlath Sheridan in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jarlath Sheridan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timmons Silke, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Jarlath Sheridan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timmons Silke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gordan Kelly's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jarlath Sheridan firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Rownun Ghee came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Meenachallow AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rownun Ghee couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timmons Silke in the 45th minute of play forced Meenachallow AFC's goalkeeper Jarlath Sheridan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

54 minutes into the match, Cuilkillew's goal looked a bit too open when Rownun Ghee came free, but Batt McFrancise reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rownun Ghee got free with Batt McFrancise in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bradaigh McAlphie during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The Meenachallow AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jarlath Sheridan should have stopped the shot. Cuilkillew were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
