Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ardattin's Bressal McLaughlin started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 5 minutes, Britt Kirby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carrig Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Britt Kirby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brefni Silke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Geralt Dunne during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Geralt Dunne hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Patton Frankson hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Ardattin's Barry Dalton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brefni Silke in the 15th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Carrig Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Troy McAlphie to maneuver through the defense. When Patraic Murphy fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carrig Utd's protests and gave Patraic Murphy a yellow card for diving instead. Patraic Murphy kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. After 24 minutes of play Ardattin's Geralt Dunne was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Geralt Dunne hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carrig Utd's goalkeeper Berk McCready, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Carrig Utd's Patraic Murphy got a free kick in the 36th minute. Ardattin's Beiti McGlenn couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 37th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Carrig Utd. Egan Todd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paul McCollion struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Berk McCready didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ardattin. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Britt Kirby to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, Egan Todd cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Berk McCready was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Egan Todd in the 60th minute of play forced Carrig Utd's goalkeeper Berk McCready to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Egan Todd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 70 minutes into the match, Brefni Silke notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ardattin's Barry Dalton. Barry Dalton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Egan Todd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Egan Todd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Berk McCready having to interfere. Brefni Silke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Britt Kirby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Barry Dalton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Egan Todd struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Berk McCready didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ardattin.
