The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Brogan Crowe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute, Austin Martyn left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belleek FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ardsbeg's Phillip Brennan got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Phillip Brennan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phillip Brennan in the 18th minute of play forced Belleek FC's goalkeeper Flann Ghee to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phillip Brennan was extremely unlucky when he, in the 23rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belleek FC's goalkeeper Flann Ghee, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rorey Glen Crowe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flann Ghee having to interfere. Brogan Crowe might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Beag McDecland. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brogan Crowe ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

54 minutes into the match, Ardsbeg's goalkeeper Beag McDecland had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brogan Crowe. If Phillip Brennan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 58 minutes into the match, Belleek FC's Brogan Crowe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Beag McDecland narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Flann Ghee showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phillip Brennan in the 65th minute of the match. Belleek FC's Flann Ghee played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phillip Brennan in the 68th minute of play. In the 71st minute Phillip Brennan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flann Ghee saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Belleek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rorey Glen Crowe came free, but Flann Ghee reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Beag McDecland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teddy Hughes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 76 minutes, Phillip Brennan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ardsbeg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phillip Brennan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 81st minute, Brogan Crowe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brogan Crowe struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Beag McDecland didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belleek FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rorey Glen Crowe in the 94th minute of play forced Belleek FC's goalkeeper Flann Ghee to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Belleek FC's Teddy Hughes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Beag McDecland. That made the score 0-2 after 95 minutes of play. The Belleek FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belleek FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
