The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Irving Branson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Killycross's supporters rose to their feet, but Irving Branson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boethis Doyle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot by Rorke Cronin from long distance, 27 minutes into the match, got Boethis Doyle's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When Killycross's Irving Branson in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience was convinced that Bras McDonald's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Boethis Doyle was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Don McDecland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donavan Frankson having to interfere. Bracken McWill's late challenge caught a Killycross's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bracken McWill helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Killycross booed when Nutgrove AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bracken McWill didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hayes McVictor took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 79th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Boethis Doyle. Nutgrove AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Bras McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boethis Doyle having to interfere. In the 84th minute Bras McDonald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boethis Doyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute, Bras McDonald collided with one of Nutgrove AFC's players - so bad that he fractured his nose. Paul McPeter's late challenge caught a Killycross's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paul McPeter helped the player get up and apologised. After 90 played minutes Nutgrove AFC got a freekick which was hit by Paul McPeter. Irving Branson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Irving Branson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
