After 38 played minutes Rathose got a freekick which was hit by Declan McBrand. Rowland Deans's late challenge caught a Lelagh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rowland Deans helped the player get up and apologised. In the 43rd match minute, Rathose was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rowland Deans to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brogan Deans got free with Blathmac Savic in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Casey Hunt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brite Quinnless having to make a save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The Lelagh fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brite Quinnless should have stopped the shot.
